Instructions:
Submerge the whetstone in water for approximately 5 minutes before every use. Mount the whetstone in the rubber base supplied and place it on a flat non slip surface. Always keep the surface wet while sharpening.
This whetstone has 2 grades of grit. The coarse grit re-profiles knife edges that are worn or damaged. The fine grit removes burrs and polishes the cutting edge. In general, always begin sharpening using the coarse grit, followed by the finishing process using the fine grit.
Position the knife edge over the flat whetstone, maintain an angle of 15-20 degrees between the blade and the whetstone’s surface. Move the blade forward diagonally across the whetstone’s surface, and on the return movement, turn the blade to sharpen the opposite edge. To provide more stability and precision during the procedure, gently press the face of the knife with the fingers of your free hand. Use the entire surface area of the stone, so as to maintain evenness during sharpening.
